    What about the effect of of microbiome and the stark changes to it following bariatric surgery? It seems to me this may also play a significant role in changing food preferences and cravings. As well, being in Ketosis following surgery will also affect the taste of certain foods and flavours, and is greatly responsible for the "metallic" taste people experience.
