LUMEDX Corporation, a leading provider of fully integrated, vendor-neutral cardiovascular imaging and information systems (CVIS), announced today that it has begun implementing the HealthView Chest Pain Management solution at five Methodist Healthcare facilities in San Antonio, Texas. Methodist hospitals will use HealthView to make pre-hospital and emergent electrocardiographs (ECGs/EKGs) immediately available to cardiologists for interpretation, review—and immediate comparison with previous ECGs, laboratory information and other crucial patient data. By integrating current and historical clinical information from disparate systems into a single view available anywhere with an internet connection, HealthView Chest Pain Management system bridges emergency and cardiac medicine, and represents a great leap forward in the care of chest pain patients.
The HealthView Chest Pain Management solution will be deployed at San Antonio Methodist hospitals to more closely connect emergency medical services (EMS), emergency departments (EDs) and cardiovascular service lines, thereby accelerating appropriate diagnoses and improving patient care. Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle is currently using the same system.
"This technology will take us to a new level of cardiac care," stated Jaime Wesolowski, President and CEO - Methodist Healthcare. "Methodist Healthcare hospitals see the majority of cardiac patients in the region and these patients will be the beneficiaries of this new technology."
The five Methodist facilities implementing HealthView are:
- Methodist Heart Hospital
- Methodist Children's Hospital
- Methodist Metropolitan
- Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital
- Methodist Stone Oak Hospital
Designed based on American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association acute coronary syndrome (ACS) management guidelines, HealthView Chest Pain enables systematic, organized clinical pathways for STEMI, NSTEMI and low-risk chest pain patients. The institution of systematic clinical pathways resolves key problems in the coordination and delivery of care in this high-volume, high-risk area of medicine.
"Chest pain is the cause of about 12 million ED visits a year in the United States," said LUMEDX Vice President of Strategic Products Praveen Lobo. "The Methodist hospitals in San Antonio and Virginia Mason in Seattle are national leaders, improving heart attack care by getting the ECG in front of a cardiologist quickly, no matter where he or she is—in the hospital or at home. LUMEDX is delighted that HealthView Chest Pain Management will bridge this gap and help save lives."
The HealthView Chest Pain Management solution:
- Integrates pre-hospital and historical ECGs and clinical data from disparate systems into a single dashboard view—accessible anytime, anywhere
- Enables systematic, guidelines-based clinical pathways for STEMI, NSTEMI and low-risk chest pain patients
- Seamlessly connects the ED to the cardiovascular service line for improved care for emergent cases
- Facilitates timely, fully informed decision-making; helps reduce door-to-balloon times and length of stay
- Supports registry participation through easy documentation of key care points without onerous data abstraction
- Minimizes malpractice, RAC audit and other risks; maximizes volumes and revenue opportunity
