Protos 3 is a novel automated colony counter and chromogenic identification device designed for use in food and environmental microbiology laboratories.
Overview
Protos 3 is a groundbreaking automated colony counter and chromogenic identification device. Protos 3 uses a sensitive camera, unique lighting, and strong analytic software to count colonies in seconds and automatically identify microbial species based on their color on chromogenic plates. This produces accurate, objective, and completely traceable findings.
The small Protos 3 connects to a computer via USB, allowing microbiologists to enter plate identification and quickly analyze various plate types using our bespoke colony counting and chromogenic ID software. Reports can be created immediately to display your results, available in Excel, PDF, or CSV format and stored with the plate ID and images.
With its comprehensive audit trail, this GLP-compliant method eliminates transcription errors, resulting in accurate, objective data that can be inspected at any time and used to generate professional reports. Manual edits can be made to each plate to ensure heightened accuracy with these edits being tracked via the audit trail.
Protos 3 can read various plate formats, including spiral, pour, spread, and dilution series plates, using small and large plates up to 150 mm. The sensitivity of the system’s camera allows it to detect colonies as small as 43 microns. The unique LED lighting system and Protos 3 software allow for the analysis of thousands of colonies on a single plate in seconds, making it ideal for use in busy food and environmental microbiology laboratories.
