How the SP-X™ achieves ultra sensitivity

The Simoa® planar immunoassay technology is an innovative digital biomarker solution. The unique features provide a simple, robust, flexible, and sensitive multiplexing platform for researchers.

The SP-X™ is a proprietary, precise digital nanofluidic antibody deposition technology. It provides unparalleled surface chemistry optimization, which minimizes non-specific binding and reduces low background noise. The precision and accuracy of the assays are exceptional.

Unique spot design antibodies are placed on individual spots in a circular pattern on the outside of each round microtiter plate well. Each spot holds the capture antibody for one target analyte.

With ten unique spots in a single well, a total of 10-plex assays can be performed. This saves sample volume, cost, and time without forfeiting assay performance attributes.

Vortex interaction between analyte molecules and capture antibodies.

The Simoa planar approach utilizes capture antibodies arranged in a circular pattern, coupled with vortex mixing fluid dynamics. This combination maximizes sensitivity by promoting binding reactions to reach equilibrium and prevents depletion regions from forming in the center of the well.

The Simoa surface of the planar array plates is crafted using translucent materials, allowing imaging of the array through the bottom of the plate. This design eliminates the possibility of optical signal distortions and reduces sensitivity issues caused by the liquid meniscus in the well.

Proprietary algorithm to calculate optimal exposure times for each individual plate.

Our proprietary algorithm enables the SP-X Imager to automatically adjust the exposure time and the number of images. This optimization maximizes sensitivity and dynamic range for each experiment, ensuring optimal results.
