When antimicrobial proteins and nanomaterials are coupled, they have the potential to develop immunopotentiators, which can improve organism immunity and provide a disease-prevention strategy when taken orally.

The study demonstrated the efficiency of CMCS-20a nanoparticles in guarding against grass carp reovirus (GCRV) infection. CXCL20a (CiCXCL20a) from grass carp was loaded onto carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) to form nanoparticles.
The low-temperature vacuum drying approach (LD-CMCS-20a) considerably boosted the grass carp survival rate following the GCRV challenge, whereas the high-temperature method did not.
According to mechanistic investigations, LD-CMCS-20a improved various immunological indicators while reducing spleen tissue damage and viral load.
This shows that CMCS-20a nanoparticles can help fish defend against viral risks, offering a potential preventative method for such diseases.
