There are a number of benefits to the UVP GelSolo system, from its all-in-one design for streamlined gel documentation, a high-res 5.0 MP camera, and an 11.6” touchscreen featuring user-friendly software. In addition to these features, the UVP GelSolo also offers users epi-white and epi-blue LED lights, that facilitate a range of gel imaging applications.
UVP GelSolo Features
The UVP GelSolo is a compact, easy-to-use, stand-alone system for gel documentation. It has been designed to acquire gel images easily without the need for training. As a result, the UVP GelSolo system is perfect for laboratories with multiple users and practical training.
Features include a light-sensitive monochrome camera boasting a high resolution of 5 megapixels. A highly sensitive zoom lens enables users to acquire high-contrast images with a system that is controlled by an 11.6” touchscreen fit with the intuitive VisionWorks image acquisition and analysis software.
Emission Filters
Users can place and switch between three different filters with the three-position emission filter tray. An Ethidium Bromide filter is also included with the system, and a range of other emission filters are available for additional purchase.
Transilluminators
Seven different UV Transilluminator options are available based on filter size and UV wavelength, and a blue light transilluminator is also available.
Filter sizes include: 20 x 20 cm, 21 x 26 cm or 25 x 26 cm.
Wavelengths include: 1 UV 302 nm, 2 UV 302/365 nm or 3 UV 254/302/365 nm, 100-115 V/60 Hz, or 230 V/50 Hz.
Intuitive Software
The VisionWorks software on the UVP GelSolo is both powerful and intuitive when used for capturing and analyzing gel images. A simple user interface makes accessing auto and manual image capture modes easy under the device tab. Users can adjust the exposure time with customizable exposure settings, and captured images can be saved in TIFF or JPEG.
Image analysis
All systems include image enhancement and analysis features. Researchers are able to personalize their experiments and utilize enhancement features and annotation tools that are suitable for use in publication. The software offers a variety of powerful tools, from noise reduction, histogram adjustment, and inversion, to pseudocolor and more.
The wide-ranging analysis features are all optimized for accurate and reproducible results. These features include automatic lane and band detection, 1D analysis, area density, and colony counting, the data from which can all be easily exported to Excel.
